Transplanting big trees: different ways and alternatives
The conservation of large trees impacted by construction sites, urban planning modifications, and similar challenges requires careful consideration. Often, preserving these special trees is the only way to ensure their survival. We establish criteria to evaluate whether preservation is sustainable and conduct both physiological and mechanical analyses to determine the ideal size and the appropriate tree-moving techniques.
There are several tree-moving systems available, such as the Treeplatform® semi-rigid system and bare-root systems, chosen based on site conditions, species adaptability, and tree vitality. The selected system aims to balance the tree’s long-term survival expectations with the overall project costs. During the transplant process, a thorough analysis of the tree’s roots and overall characteristics is performed, allowing us to define key maintenance requirements for its ongoing health.
